Big Bend Cliffs
The Murray River boasts its own mesmerising riverside gorge, comparable to Northern Territory’s Katherine Gorge. Located near Nildottie and Swan Reach, the Big Bend cliffs are a sight to behold. You can visit by boat or take a scenic road trip, just one and a half hours from Adelaide or 40 minutes from Mannum.
For a picturesque journey, start from Mannum and travel along the riverside road, enjoying a free ferry ride across Walker Flat. Here, the incredible cliffs will begin your riverside adventure. Just outside Nildottie, make a stop at the ‘Big Bend Lookout,’ where the breathtaking views will leave you in awe.
Big Bend is a popular nesting ground for cockatoos and features the tallest cliffs and the longest single bend along the entire length of the Murray River. It’s truly one of the Mid Murray’s natural wonders and a must-see destination.
